Ms. Sumaya Rashid is playing a key role in promoting CSR & sustainable development, disseminating CSR best practices, advising organizations on workers’ rights as per key international regulatory requirements and supporting MSME through networking, capacity development for national economic growth in Bangladesh. She conceptualized a model to bring companies in same platform and under her leadership; a CSR Forum is developed in October 2017 where 10 companies became the initiator of the CSR forum in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, Ms. Rashid is closely working with NPO-Ministry of Industries, international agencies like UNWFP, GIZ, IOM and other government, private and private sector. She has been working on the green banking and CSR guideline of Bangladesh Bank to develop capacity of scheduled banks and NBFIs since 2012. A number of training programs for local and multi-national have been developed and facilitated by Ms. Rashid. Her expertise in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainable development, Sustainability Reporting, Occupational Health & Safety, working condition, women empowerment in business, Entrepreneurship Development, Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA), Productivity Improvement.
Flashback of Ms. Rashid international work are CSR project with the Government of India and Government of Uttarkhand in 2014-15, her strong presence as an International Advisor to the project on “CSR Intervention to Rudrapur Plant for the Centre of Excellence” has been recognized by SR Asia Head Quarter India, Impact Assessment of 6 CSR project conducted by THDC, a project of India Government, Need Assessment of 88 Schools THDC, funded by the Ministry of Education, India, spoke to the national conference on “Enterprising Women-Rise up the ladder” in 2016 organized by ASSOCHAM at New Delhi, India, working with SR Asia Indonesia to implement SDG Compass in Palm Oil Ltd. As an international expert of APO Japan, Ms. Rashid spoke on “The Future of Green Financing for Inclusive Business: The Case of Green Banking and CSR Guidelines in Bangladesh” in Jakarta, November 2015. Recently Ms. Rashid contributed as consultant to UN guiding principle on “Business & Human Rights” in India with the call of UNWOMEN Working group.
Ms. Sumaya Rashid is working as Country Director of Social Responsibility Asia (SR Asia) Bangladesh since 2012. She is Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and PG diploma in Personnel Management besides certified trainer by APO-Japan and ILO SIYB. She has passed her Masters of Business Administration in Human Resource Management-2008 and Honors in Information System – 2005.
